MGCC to Offer Drone Certification Course for Public Safety Professionals
CLIFTON FORGE, VA – Mountain Gateway Community College will offer a two-day course, Public Safety Drone Operations: FAA Part 107 Certification Ground School, on Monday and Tuesday, July 28–29, at McCarthy Hall on the main campus in Clifton Forge.
Designed for law enforcement, first responders and other public safety personnel, the course prepares participants to sit for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification exam. The training covers all 11 FAA-mandated topics, including federal regulations, airspace classifications, weather impacts, emergency protocols and operational best practices.
Participants will also gain insight into drone hardware and software used in missions such as search and rescue, 3D scene modeling, incident response and investigations.
Tuition is $525. An additional $39 fee is required for access to essential online course content. This out-of-pocket expense is not collected by the college and will be discussed on the first day of class.
