The MGCC Writing Center provides friendly, supportive, and free writing assistance to help you succeed in college-level writing across all subjects.
Important Note on Our Services: Writing Center tutors focus on guiding your ideas, organization, thesis development, and content. Tutors do not edit, line-correct, or proofread papers for you, but will coach you on how to revise and polish your own work.

Location: Scott Hall, inside the MGCC Library (Clifton Forge Campus)
In-Person Hours:
- Monday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday: Closed
Appointments are highly encouraged, though drop-ins are welcome if a tutor is available.
How to Book an Appointment
- Visit the MGCC Writing Center Bookings Page.
- Select your preferred appointment date, time, and format (In-Person or Virtual).
- Check your student email for a confirmation message.
For virtual appointments, your confirmation email will include a Zoom link to join the session.
Online Tutoring for Remote Students
Online tutoring support is available by appointment only for:
- Online course students
- Dual enrollment high school students
- Rockbridge Regional Center (RRC) students
- Please review the full MGCC Writing Center Policies before your session.
