Each day, in our local community, nearly 1,500 people are food insecure (Feeding America). What does it mean to be food insecure, you ask? Imagine you only had enough money to either buy groceries or pay the electric bill. What if you could only provide a roof over your family’s head or fill their empty bellies? Which would you choose?
In an effort to further support our students and community, MGCC has created the MGCC Roadrunner Cubby Closet. Will you partner with us?
Your support of the MGCC Cubby Closet can make all the difference in your community. Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items are now being accepted at select locations on the MGCC Campus – the Moomaw Center in McCarthy Hall, the MGCC Library Cafe in Scott Hall, and Room 645 in the Convocation Center. For a full list of suggested items, please click here.
To find out how you, or your organization, can be a monthly sponsor, or for questions, email us at pbartley@mgcc.edu. Monetary donations are also accepted. Please mail your gift to Hazel Wright, MGCC, 1000 College Drive, Clifton Forge, VA 24422
“Healthy bodies and minds require nutritious meals at every age. But when people don’t have enough food or have to choose inexpensive foods with low-nutritional value, it can seriously impact their health. And once the cycle of poor diet and poor health begins, it can be hard to break.” – Feeding America
Thank you for partnering with MGCC to build a brighter future for our community.
The MGCC Roadrunner Cubby Closet is an official member of the College & University Food Bank Alliance.
