The Mountain Gateway Community College Educational Foundation scholarships are made possible through the generous support of private citizens, organizations, and businesses.  The MGCC Educational Foundation awards more than $100,000 in scholarships annually. Awards range from $100 - $5,000.

Scholarship Application

The scholarship application opens December 5, 2022.  Complete your online application here to be considered for nearly 75 scholarship opportunities.

The application, and all subsequent requested collateral, must be completed online. You will need your MGCC login credentials in order to log on the online application platform. Please be aware that applicants must provide:

  • One letter of recommendation, excluding family members (graduating high schools seniors - a current or former instructor is preferred)
  • One essay
  • A short resume including ALL extracurricular activities, community involvement, and/or work history
  • Your most recent official transcript for graduating high school seniors or unofficial transcript for current MGCC students

In addition, you must have completed your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year, and you must have submitted ALL additional requested information to the Financial Aid Office before the scholarship deadline.

The Roadrunner Promise Program

The Roadrunner Promise Program is open to ALL MGCC students; high school, continuing, non-traditional and nursing. The Roadrunner Promise Program is a need based scholarship that helps to remove the financial barriers of attending MGCC. In addition, the Roadrunner Promise may help to pay for the cost of books.

Applications for Roadrunner Promise are typically accepted December through February each year.  Students are required to complete the MGCC Educational Foundation scholarship application, and all requested materials, including the FAFSA, by the application deadline in order to be considered for Roadrunner Promise.

Acceptance into the program is based on the level of need and current available funding. Students are required to maintain a minimum 2.25 GPA, be enrolled a minimum of 9 credit hours (with a maximum of 15 credit hours) per semester, complete 8 hours of community service each fall, complete an SDV class within the first semester of enrollment, and be a resident of the College’s service area. Some restrictions may apply.

Please contact the Foundation Office in room 152 of Backels Hall for more information.
