Mountain Gateway Associate Vice President Dr. Matthew McGraw will discuss his time as a Fulbright Scholar working in Sri Lanka at the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library on November 18th at 6pm.
Selected by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, Dr. McGraw spent part of this past summer working with the Sarvodaya Shramadana, an organization recognized globally for its efforts in peacebuilding, civic engagement, and sustainable development.
During his time in Sri Lanka, Dr. McGraw provided training and curriculum support aimed at fostering global citizenship, service-based education, and inclusive learning. He worked closely with Sarvodaya educators and leadership teams, supporting their mission to empower individuals and communities through education rooted in compassion, equity, and self-reliance. In addition, Dr. McGraw developed a strategic plan to guide the creation of Sarvodaya University.
