Program Description

The Career Studies Certificate in Urban Forestry trains individuals to work in a distinct segment of the Forestry industry. Urban Forestry courses prepare students to care for and manage trees in urban forests. MGCC instructors strive to promote the benefits of well-maintained trees- esthetic, economic, and environmental. This program can be a stand-alone certification or in conjunction with the Forestry Management Technology degree program.

General Information

The Career Studies Certificate in Urban Forestry trains individuals to work in a distinct segment of the Forestry industry. Learn the skills necessary for jobs that deal with the growth, management, care and conservation of vegetation in the public and private urban settings.

Tools, Equipment, and Supplies

Students may be required to purchase special items for selected courses, such as:

Clipboard

Sturdy Shoes

Rain gear for outdoor labs and field trips

Compass (Recommended brands: SILVA Ranger Compass or SUUNTO Navigator MC-2)

Steel-Toed Shoes

Logger’s Tape (Recommended brand: Spencer Combination_

Hardhat

Hearing Protection

Chaps
