The WestRock Foundation, along with the WestRock Covington mill, represented by Rick Watro (second from right), VP of WestRock Covington Operations, has donated $20,000 to "Imagine, Invest, Inspire - The Campaign for DSLCC", the major gifts campaign for Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. Both the WestRock Foundation and the Covington mill have been longtime supporters of DSLCC, with WestRock serving as a sponsor of the biennial Bubbles, Bands and Brunch fundraiser and providing an annual scholarship. In addition, DSLCC and WestRock have been active partners in a Dual Craft Apprenticeship Program, which was developed to cross-train electrical journeymen and instrumentation journeymen into a new classification at the Covington mill - Electrical and Instrumentation Journeyman. Currently, 36 individuals have completed the training and have earned the certification. DSLCC's comprehensive campaign has a goal of raising $3.5 million for student scholarships and success, college advancement and new initiatives, and expansion of services throughout DSLCC's footprint. Publicly announced in September, over $2.75 million has been raised to date.
