For the thirty-sixth year, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has  hosted a Summer Regional Governor’s School. Unlike previous years, this year’s program was conducted virtually. Eight students from five middle and high schools in the DSLCC service area studied the ins and outs of cyber security.

Brett Pettijohn of Raphine in Rockbridge County spent ten weeks last summer ensconced in a process that he thoroughly enjoyed: Conducting tests on samples in a chemistry lab at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College’s 2020 commencement exercises will take place on Saturday, September 12, in two ceremonies, the first one beginning at 10:00 am and the second one at 2:00 pm. Both will take place in the Convocation Center on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has suspended fall and winter athletic practice and competition for both men’s and women’s basketball for the 2020-21 season, DSLCC President Dr. John Rainone has announced.
 

Dr. John Grimes, a well-known educator and philanthropist who returned to his home town of Clifton Forge several years ago, has been named the 2020 recipient of the prestigious Medallion of Merit Award by the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Local Board.

Emergency Financial Aid Grants for Students

Like a lot of high school and college-aged students, Brooke Brackenridge wasn’t exactly sure where she wanted her career path to take her.

Shannon Brantley of Clifton Forge is the first student to complete the Google IT (Information Technology) Professional Certificate course being hosted by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.  The new 300-hour online course, created and designed by Google, is a “good foundation for anyone who wants to go into the field of IT,” says Brantley. “It’s a very good place to start.”
