The Greenbrier Valley Chapter of Sigma Xi and Jackson River Governor’s School are co-hosting a

“Entrepreneurial Changemaking 101” is the topic of this year’s two-week Summer Governor’s School hosted by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, July 12-23.

Every April for the past several years, the Jackson River Governor’s School has hosted an exhibition - fondly known as the JRGS Science Fair - for students in Barbara Kolb’s research course, NAS-198-199, “Intro to Scientific Research,” to show off their projects. Typically, the JRGS Science Fair is held in the Moomaw Center on the Dabney S.

The incoming class of first-year students attending the Jackson River Governor’s School at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College recently attended an orientation session before the start of the school year.

The Medallion of Merit Award, presented to a community member within the service area of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, has been reinstated by the DSLCC Local Board and Eddie Graham of Clifton Forge, an educator in the Alleghany Highlands for almost 50 years, was selected as the 2019 recipient.

For the 35th year, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge hosted the Field Ecology Summer Regional Governor’s School from June 10 to July 5. Thirteen students from five middle and high schools in the DSLCC service area learned about ecology by studying nature outdoors rather than in the classroom.
