Mountain Gateway Community College hosted Commencement Exercises Friday night, May 12, on the MGCC Clifton Forge campus, with graduates receiving associate degrees and certificates, as well as over 300 students being recognized for earning workforce credentials.

Dr. Matt McGraw, Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Services at Mountain Gateway Community College, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in Comparative Higher Education Systems for the 2022-2023 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Dr. Benjamin Worth, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Mountain Gateway Community College, has been selected as a Distinguished College Administrator by Phi Theta Kappa, the official national academic honorary society for two-year colleges.

For the second consecutive year, Rockbridge County High School instructor Jennifer Balkey has been recognized with a WISE (Working in Support of Education) 2021-22 Gold Star Teacher Award, in recognition of a pass rate of 93 percent or higher on the WISE Financial Literacy Certification Test, by students in the dual enrollment Economics and Personal Finance class that she teaches for Mountain Gateway Community College and RCHS.

Mountain Gateway Community College is pleased to announce that the 7th annual Distinguished Alumni Award is currently open for nominations. 

McGraw has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in Comparative Higher Education Systems for the 2022-2023 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

This project will support the establishment of a manufacturing training center, to be located in a building that once housed the Courtesy Ford dealership at 2019 Forest Avenue in downtown Buena Vista, to meet local employers’ existing and future workforce needs.
